We are thrilled to share highlights from the Health Awareness and Prevention 2025 expo (Jan 6 - Feb 22). Hosted by Guiding Light Leeds in collaboration with the NHS and Leeds Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church, these events were dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of the African-Caribbean community in Leeds.
Attendees benefited from informative and engaging sessions, including:
- Diabetes Awareness – Dr. Kastrati
- Heart Disease & Stroke Awareness – Dr. Kevin Stuart
- Blood Pressure Checks – Leeds Central SDA Health Team
- Healthy Diet and Lifestyle, presented by Vanessa Maynard and Becky Bembridge
- Brain Health – presented by Dr. Kevin Stuart.
- Mental Health & Wellbeing– Leeds Community Mental Health Team and John Norton (West Yorkshire Police)
- Cancer Awareness & Prevention – NHS MacMillan & Maggie’s Cancer Support
- Perinatal Health Discussion – Perinatal Team Leeds NHS
These sessions provided vital knowledge on prevention, early signs, and available support, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with health experts on key health concerns and lifestyle choices affecting the community.
