Guiding Light Leads Attends Earth Day Event in Leeds

On Tuesday 22nd April 2025, Guiding Light Leads was proud to attend a special Earth Day event organised by Leeds City Council’s Climate and Energy Team. The event brought together passionate individuals and organisations from across Leeds, all united in the mission to make our city greener and more sustainable.

The gathering featured a range of speakers, including representatives from OPAL (supporting older adults) and CATCH (engaging young people across the city). Each organisation shared their unique contributions to reducing Leeds’ carbon footprint, from grassroots projects to city-wide initiatives. The message was clear: everyone has a role to play in caring for our planet, and every action counts.

Guiding Light Leads is committed to championing environmental responsibility. Our attendance at the event is just one example of how we actively seek out opportunities to support sustainability and climate-friendly initiatives.

One highlight of the day was seeing, first-hand, one of Leeds City’s three fully electric waste disposal lorries—an impressive step forward in the city’s efforts to cut emissions and innovate for a cleaner future. Our founder and CEO, Yvonne Opebiyi, joined fellow attendees for a photo with the electric lorry, showcasing our ongoing dedication to environmental action.

We are proud to be part of a city that prioritises sustainability, and we will continue to lead by example in reducing our own carbon footprint. Together, we can build a better future for everyone in Leeds.

Stay tuned for more updates on how Guiding Light Leads is supporting sustainability in our community!
